Editorial Reviews:

InspirationalLarge Print Edition* A New York Times BestsellerSuppose you could ask God the most puzzling questions about existence, and God would provide clear, understandable answers? It happened to Neale Donald Walsch. Conversations with God is Neale Donald Walschs account of his direct conversations with God, beginning in 1992 while Walsch was immersed in a period of deep depression. He composed a letter to God in which he vented his frustrations, and much to his surprise even shock God answered him.

Summary: Mesmerising!
Comment: Even before I had finished the previous two books in this series, I had already read the part in this book about highly evolved beings (HEBs) and life on other planets, because it answered a question I had repeatedly asked myself ever since I was a child i.e. was there life on other planets? I had always thought that there must be - the universe is just too huge for us to be the only ones 'out here' - and when this book confirmed that, how could I not read on? Many of these other inhabited planets have highly evolved civilisations and I found the descriptions of these societies absolutely mesmerising! HEBs communicate absolutely truthfully and telepathically (in fact, you can tell how evolved a society is by its dependance or otherwise on words for communication); there is no concept of ownership or loss; they share everything they have; and their children set their own curriculum at school. A key part of these societies is observing fully and acknowledging the truth of their observations, something we don't do. We see what is happening, but then we choose to ignore or deny it, because profits would suffer etc. Although I was fascinated by what I was reading, I was also somewhat discouraged to see just how far we are from realising this kind of society on Earth (compared to the HEBs, I felt like we were ants crawling around on the ground, whilst they soared above us like eagles). But by the end, the overriding emotion was one of inspiration, because I had been shown the possibility of a different, far more fulfilling existence, where everyone's experience of life can be a fair and joyful one.

The book also discusses/revisits topics such as death, psychic power, reincarnation, the nature and location of the soul, marriage, and the lack of chance or accident in everyday life (i.e. nothing happens by chance, it is all intentional, even if we can't see what the intention is).

You can read this book in isolation, but I would recommend you read Books 1 and 2 first, because you will get more out of it if you do. All three books are remarkable and I applaud Neale for bravely challenging accepted theological doctrine and, thereby, releasing people from the fear of 'sin' and from being judged by a vengeful God. It's an uplifting and liberating message!

Summary: Beware - save your money, buy it used if you must!
Comment:
I can't speak for the other two books - which I haven't read - but this one is a clunky pastiche of every spiritual and/or New Age idea of the past 2000 years.

There's a little bit of everything here ... from the truly valuable to real howlers. (E.T. makes an appearance. And how charming that "God" agrees with the author on free love -- in favor! -- and protecting old-growth forests. Worst is when the author presents his own New Age wedding vows as the model for what everyone's should be!)

Really disheartening were the in-your-face plugs on every 5th page for one of the author's other books and programs! Somehow, it is impossible to believe this is a tactic God would need!

I made the mistake of paying full-price at a bookstore, on the recommendation of a friend. If you're determined to give it a look, try to pick up an inexpensive used copy first!

Summary: A testament to a higher power
Comment: This book, is extraordinary. While the title suggests Christianity or other religious entity, it is much more existential that it suggests. An unequivically poignant book, inspiration and a fine assist on one's spiritual journey. Hands down one of the best books I have ever read.

Summary: Wish I had found this when it came out
Comment: This book was published ten years ago; I came to it in 2008. Everything in divine timing, no doubt. Filled with wisdom, beautiful and uplifting.

Summary: COMPLETELY CONTRADICTS THE BIBLE
Comment: There is alot of good stuff in these books for you to think about and learn from. BUT, IT SAYS INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE THINGS THAT ARE SUPPOSEDLY OK WITH GOD, SUCH AS CHILD MOLESTATION for example. I was very excited about this collection but half way through book 1, I threw them all in the recycle bin. The movie however was excellent and extremely uplifting.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU RENT THE MOVIE AND FORGET ABOUT THESE BOOKS. The movie does not delve into the things that GOD is supposedly telling him that he writes in his books. DON`T WASTE YOURE MONEY ON THESE BOOKS !
